There was a time I was asking self-searching questions.

What am I supposed to do? Why do I have a great job but don’t feel fulfilled?

Do you have an uneasy feeling about what you’re doing or not doing?

SEARCHING

It wasn’t too long ago I was searching for my life purpose. Honestly, it took time to figure it out. It’s not a quick discovery that you will find within 10 mins because I have been there. But what I can do is get you onto the right highway. So you can identify your exit along the way.

Through this series, I will assist you finding your life purpose. It took me a year to find my true calling. It’s truly an amazing feeling to know what you’re supposed to do.  I began by reading self-help books at the library or Amazon. Yes, the book that most people look over or don’t believe it would help them. I read them.

HOW IT STARTED.

For me, things started with an obvious nudge and curiosity. I was a stay at home mom at the time which is awesome for some women. But for me, that was not the case.  I wanted more.

There was a pit in my gut, a feeling on my skin and whispers in my head that drove me crazy. Not literally. But, still, it was as if I was starving and craving for clarity.

pAY ATTENTION

The obvious…. I was not happy where I was. Needed to feed my desires. And figuring it out was going to take work.

The unobvious…the nudging in my soul, the uneasy feeling that left me uncomfortable and whispers that drew me to discovery.

It wasn’t until I was still, still and using my abandoned sense of intuition.

Often we do not sit still long enough (not literately) to pay attention to the obvious feeling, sounds and signs that are designed to guide us.

BE AWARE OF YOUR LIFE TRANSITIONS

The transitions in your life are usually not by chance. That job you got by meeting the manager on the train. The man you met when you had a flat tire. The major you choose in college because you wanted to avoid organic chemistry. Oh, that may be just me. Or some bad events that you try to forget.

There were many transitions in my life that seemed to prepare me for a specific road.

Each event has an unknown but specific cause. It makes no sense when you moving along. But once you stop and look back you can see a pattern.

TRANSITIONS

For me, many life transitions prepared me for my life purpose. My hard and unspoken childhood, my struggles in an unfortunate environment. And my change in majors that I can now look back and see where purposeful decisions.

Finally, deciding to pursue a major in Environmental, Policy, Institutes, and Behavior. It’s a fancy way of say.. help people understand how to interact with the world around them.

A minor in Psychology for the obvious reason, to study the human mind.

Followed by Master of Public Health.

In between, there were personal transitions. Change in relationships and lost of friends.

Twice…. a good ol’ stay at home mom. And several state to state moves.

And just as you are now…searching for your truth.

Always with an inclination that I was supposed to be doing something that I was passionate about. And fulfilling my life purpose.

So as a food inspector for the USDA working every day making pretty good money, a husband, house and a child; I still felt unclear.

Although, I was achieving my goals. It was the BIG overall life goal of finding MY purpose in life…. that I needed to achieve.

DISCOVERY

It’s the moment in life when you realize that you need to figure out, discover and seek ways to create balance. You are completely tired of being mentally, physically, and spiritually off-center. By the end of the day, you are drained.

You decide to take a stand, create your life and stop living passively.

Task: outline your life and see the route you have taken. Notice similarities, and what cause the changes. Did you go college… why? If you didn’t… why?  Left several jobs… why? Big move… why?

NOTICE SIMPLE SIGNS AROUND YOU

HAVE YOUR FOUND YOUR LIFE PURPOSE

Just as important it is to notice a pattern in your transitions. It’s extremely important to be aware of clues and signs.

I remember driving in the car and listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. It was a normal day like any day. Except a woman on the show talked about her jean business.

It was at that moment where everything else went silent. I was drawn to her story and the courage she gained after a book she read. It was his book click here that gave her purpose and revealed her passion. Her life purpose was to create jean tights for the everyday woman. For women of every size to feel empowered.

I was all ears. This ignited my spirit.

Was this meant for me to hear? This was what I have been looking for.

Immediately I purchased this book on Amazon.  Along with several other self-help books, I recommend here. From then on… I kept my eyes open for other signs.

WHAT ARE YOU GOOD AT AND WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO?

This is tricky because what you’re good at would not always be linked to your purpose. So, not being proficient in an area doesn’t mean it’s not your life purpose. You can always educate yourself about the subject later.

A question that you need to ask yourself is what do you enjoy doing everyday effortlessly. This is something that you love to do but exerts the least amount of energy.

Your day doesn’t involve your kids or partner. It’s about YOU.

For example, I love to cook and bake.  I love the do DIY projects around the house.  Also, sit under the sunset near the water. And help someone work through some of their person issues. Really, enjoy the human mind and motivation.
